I love to share my routines; I get that from my mom. This morning:
two honey oatmilk lattes, a lox breakfast sammy, & caught up on some content:
emma chamberlain’s new birthday cake video
house of maher with kylie kelce
kylie kelcee’s podcast with ilona maher
Then I do some of my own work, including reading through some old beginnings: …the writing is kind of interesting? To me. It’s serious, and ethereal… (do I create a pseudonym?) It’s very inspired by my favorite writer, who remains anonymous. (tss)
Speaking of sharing routines, some of you know that last year I took two stand-up classes at Laugh Lab with Lace Larabee. 1. The woman is brave & smart, and chooses excellent TA’s. 2. HER content is so grounded & real that your introduction to the art comes very organically - you suddenly learn how to put words to some of the shit things that have happened to you; not to victimize myself, or anyone else, but women have a right to be angry. So to speak your inner truth as it converses with our outer one was one of the more empowering experiences of my life.
So it’s kind of an intense experience: 6 weeks of storytelling on a stage, recording, reflecting, tweaking, digging, offering… Because I took the class twice with about 6 months in-between each session, I had pretty different experiences, both rich in their own ways. Anyway - I didn’t come here today to detail the profound impact of this course. Tales of its success will continue to be shared moving forward.
I came here to share my first graduation video. Lace suggested that we not do that, but I think if I do standup comedy again I’ll need to lighten up anyway so my content may change. I’d prefer that these bits not get burglarized, but. It’s exhilarating to share my mistakes & less-than-perfect appearance, and say some silly things I’ve always wanted to. Ultimately proud of the writing, which is why I really want to share. A true evolution & work of care; and was elevated by my TA for that round, Holly Ballantine - another successful comedian.
Okay, enjoy:
